Teen Programs

As campers grow older, we recognize that their developmental needs change.  We understand that while social and educational demands increase with age, young teens need a place that can nurture their continued growth and have fun in the process.

YMCA Camp Hough provides teens with three programs:

Teen Week

7/2 - 7/8

Age Range: 13 - 15 yrs

In addition to the regular Traditional Camp programs, this week will include more opportunities for our teen campers to bond with their peers.  Through both structured and free play, these campers will be exposed to experiences that will foster both independent and social development.

Leader in Training

7/9 - 7/22

Age Range:  14 - 15 yrs

This two week program expands on the Traditional Camp philosophy of empowerment, and begins training campers in the skills of problem solving and leadership.  These campers will still participate in the fun camp  programming that they love, but will also enjoy interactive breakout sessions and learn how they can relate their new skills to their everyday life.

Counselor in Training

7/23 - 8/12

Age Range:  16 yrs

For teen campers interested in learning the skills of becoming a great counselor.

These individuals will go through a week of training, followed by two weeks assigned to cabin groups and program areas that will strengthen their skills of program facilitation and camper interaction.

Interested campers will be required to complete an additional application and participate in a short interview with the Camp Director before acceptance into this program.
